What the job involves
A capacitor is the part that gives the motor the shove it needs to start and keeps it turning steady. When it weakens, motors draw too much current, overheat and quit. We discharge the capacitor safely, confirm the reading against the rating stamped on the can, and fit a replacement matched to the motor. Fan motor work goes further: we pull the top grille, lift the motor and blade assembly out, transfer the blade at the correct height and wire the new motor to the same speed taps. This is high-voltage work, so it stays with us.','
What we check and install
We check the capacitor on both the fan and the compressor side, since one failing capacitor often masks a second problem. We look at the contactor for pitted points, the wiring for heat damage, and the motor bearings for play or drag. On rooftop package units we also clear the dust and grit that chokes airflow and pushes motors past their limits. Replacement parts are matched by voltage, horsepower, rotation and mounting. If the blade is bent or the bearing housing is scored, we say so before we install anything.
How we decide it is the right call
We test rather than guess. A capacitor reading well below its rated value, a motor pulling high amps, or a windings test that comes back open tells us the part is done. If the motor spins freely and reads correct but the unit still will not start, the fault sits elsewhere and we keep looking. We also weigh the age and condition of the system. On an older unit with a failing compressor and a rusted coil, we explain that honestly instead of selling a motor into a machine that will not last the season.

Why did my capacitor fail after only a few years?
Heat is the main reason. Long run times and attic or rooftop temperatures cook the capacitor from the inside, and dust-clogged coils make the motor work harder. Regional summers shorten capacitor life compared with milder climates.
Can I just replace the capacitor and skip the fan motor?
Sometimes, yes. If the motor tests good and spins freely, a new capacitor may be all it needs. If the windings read open or the bearings drag, a new capacitor will fail again quickly.
Is it safe to run my AC until you arrive?
No. If the outdoor fan is not turning, shut the system off at the thermostat. Running the compressor without condenser airflow builds pressure and heat and can turn a fan motor repair into a compressor replacement.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill out the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and whether the outdoor unit is running. That tells us which parts and gauges to load on the truck before we leave.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow, refrigerant pressures, and the condenser coil. Desert dust plugs coils and dying capacitors are common. You get the finding in plain words before we touch a part.
- Step 3
Repair and verify
We make the repair, then run the system and measure supply air temperature and amp draw so we know it is actually cooling or heating. We tell you what we saw and what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us
- We know rooftop unitsHalf the valley has a package unit on the roof, baking all summer. We are up there regularly, so we know how those cabinets fail, where the drain pans rust, and how heat and sun break down wiring and blower assemblies.
- Dust is the local enemyFine desert dust mats onto condenser coils and chokes airflow, and the system runs hot until something gives up. We check the coil on every call and tell you honestly whether cleaning will fix your cooling problem.
- July gets treated like JulyA dead condenser when it is 112 outside is not a routine call. We prioritise homes with no cooling, and we say clearly when we can be there instead of leaving you guessing all afternoon.
- Heating tooDesert nights get cold and furnaces sit unused for months. We do heater repair and furnace repair, including no-ignition problems, bad igniters, and blowers that hum without moving air. Same straight explanation, no upsell speech.

- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
