What the job involves
A capacitor is the part that gives the motor the shove it needs to start and keeps it turning steady. When it weakens, motors draw too much current, overheat and quit. We discharge the capacitor safely, confirm the reading against the rating stamped on the can, and fit a replacement matched to the motor. Fan motor work goes further: we pull the top grille, lift the motor and blade assembly out, transfer the blade at the correct height and wire the new motor to the same speed taps. Why did my capacitor fail after only a few years?

Can I just replace the capacitor and skip the fan motor?
