Refrigerant Leak Repair

We find and repair refrigerant leaks in residential air conditioning systems across Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. If your AC runs constantly but the air coming out is barely cool, or you see ice on the indoor coil or the line set, that usually points to low refrigerant, and low refrigerant means a leak somewhere. Turn the system off at the thermostat so the compressor is not running dry and call us. Handling refrigerant is not homeowner work, so leave the panels closed and let us bring the gauges.

What refrigerant leak repair actually involves

Refrigerant does not get used up. If the charge is low, it left through a hole, so the repair starts with finding that hole rather than topping off and driving away. We check pressures and temperatures, then hunt the leak with electronic detection, bubble solution or dye depending on where the system is losing charge. Once we find it we repair or replace the failed section, pull a vacuum to clear moisture and air, then weigh in the correct charge for that system.

What we check and what we replace

Common leak points in our climate are evaporator coils, brazed joints, service valves, Schrader cores and the line set where it rubs against a strap or passes through a wall. On rooftop package units we also look at anything loosened by heat cycling and wind. We check the coil surfaces for corrosion and blown-in dust that traps moisture against the metal. Depending on the finding, the fix is a new coil, a repaired joint, a replaced valve or a section of new line.

How we decide repair is the right call

We weigh where the leak is, how old the system is and what the coil looks like overall. A single accessible joint or a bad valve core is a straightforward repair. A coil that is pinholing in several places, or a system on an obsolete refrigerant with a compressor already struggling, is a different conversation, and we will say so plainly. We show you what we found and what the options cost you over the next few summers, then you decide.

Refrigerant Leak Repair — quick answers

Can you just add refrigerant instead of repairing the leak?

We can add charge, but it will leak out again and the compressor pays the price. Adding refrigerant without finding the leak is a short-term patch, so we prefer to locate and repair it first.

Is a refrigerant leak dangerous to my family?

Household refrigerant leaks are usually a comfort and equipment problem rather than a health hazard, since the charge disperses outdoors or through the ducts. Still, shut the system off and let us handle the repair.

How long does the repair take?

Finding the leak is often the longest part. A joint or valve repair is frequently same-visit work. An evaporator coil replacement can take longer and may require ordering the correct coil for your system.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and whether the outdoor unit is running. That tells us which parts and gauges to load on the truck before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow, refrigerant pressures, and the condenser coil. Desert dust plugs coils and dying capacitors are common. You get the finding in plain words before we touch a part.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and measure supply air temperature and amp draw so we know it is actually cooling or heating. We tell you what we saw and what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know rooftop unitsHalf the valley has a package unit on the roof, baking all summer. We are up there regularly, so we know how those cabinets fail, where the drain pans rust, and how heat and sun break down wiring and blower assemblies.
  • Dust is the local enemyFine desert dust mats onto condenser coils and chokes airflow, and the system runs hot until something gives up. We check the coil on every call and tell you honestly whether cleaning will fix your cooling problem.
  • July gets treated like JulyA dead condenser when it is 112 outside is not a routine call. We prioritise homes with no cooling, and we say clearly when we can be there instead of leaving you guessing all afternoon.
  • Heating tooDesert nights get cold and furnaces sit unused for months. We do heater repair and furnace repair, including no-ignition problems, bad igniters, and blowers that hum without moving air. Same straight explanation, no upsell speech.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
