Thermostat Installation — Book a Visit Today

We install and replace thermostats, wire smart controls and set up zoning panels for homeowners across Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. Most calls start the same way: the screen is blank, the temperature reading is off by several degrees, or a new smart thermostat will not hold a connection to the equipment. A visit begins with a look at the existing wiring and what the system actually needs, including whether a common wire is present. We confirm the equipment stages, mount and level the new control, configure it for your furnace and AC, then watch a full cycle before we leave. Call us with your thermostat model and what the display is doing, and we will book a time.

The thermostat installation symptoms we hear most

  • The screen is completely blank Power loss at the thermostat: dead batteries, tripped breaker or a missing common wire
  • It says 72 but the house feels like 80 Failed or badly located temperature sensor, or a thermostat mounted in sun or near a supply vent
  • My new smart thermostat keeps dropping offline Wiring or power supply issue, often a C wire workaround that cannot carry a steady load
  • The system runs and runs and never shuts off Stuck relay, miswired stage or a control calling continuously for cooling
  • Upstairs bakes while downstairs freezes Single thermostat on a two-level home, or zoning dampers and a zone panel that need setup or repair

Whether you call it thermostat installation or thermostat replacement, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Open the thermostat and replace the batteries if it takes them, then see if the display returns.
  • 2Check the breaker panel for a tripped breaker on the furnace, air handler or AC circuit and reset it once.
  • 3Confirm the thermostat is set to Cool or Heat and the fan is on Auto, and that the schedule is not holding an old setting.
  • 4Change the filter and walk the house to make sure supply and return vents are open and not blocked by furniture.

Thermostat Installation — quick answers

Can any smart thermostat work with my system?

Most can, but it depends on your equipment. Heat pumps, two stage systems and older rooftop package units need specific wiring and configuration. We check what you have first and tell you honestly if a model will not control your system properly.

What is a C wire and do I need one?

The common wire gives a thermostat steady power instead of borrowing it from the system. Smart thermostats generally need one. If your wiring does not include a spare conductor, we can often add an adapter at the equipment or run new thermostat wire.

How long does a thermostat replacement take?

A straightforward swap usually takes under an hour, including configuration and watching a heating and cooling cycle. Adding a common wire, correcting old wiring or setting up a zoning panel takes longer. We will tell you which one you are looking at before we start.

Will a new thermostat fix my hot and cold rooms?

Sometimes, but often the issue is duct sizing, airflow or a single control trying to manage two floors. Zoning with dampers and a zone panel is the real fix in many homes. We measure and look at the ductwork before recommending anything.

Do I have to replace my thermostat when I replace my AC?

Not always, though a new system with multiple stages or a variable speed blower usually needs a control that can speak to it. An old single stage thermostat can leave that equipment running in its simplest mode.

Can I install a thermostat myself?

Some homeowners do, though thermostat terminals connect to low voltage control boards, and a crossed wire can damage a control board or take out a fuse. If you are unsure of the labelling on your old wires, let us handle it.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and whether the outdoor unit is running. That tells us which parts and gauges to load on the truck before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow, refrigerant pressures, and the condenser coil. Desert dust plugs coils and dying capacitors are common. You get the finding in plain words before we touch a part.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and measure supply air temperature and amp draw so we know it is actually cooling or heating. We tell you what we saw and what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know rooftop unitsHalf the valley has a package unit on the roof, baking all summer. We are up there regularly, so we know how those cabinets fail, where the drain pans rust, and how heat and sun break down wiring and blower assemblies.
  • Dust is the local enemyFine desert dust mats onto condenser coils and chokes airflow, and the system runs hot until something gives up. We check the coil on every call and tell you honestly whether cleaning will fix your cooling problem.
  • July gets treated like JulyA dead condenser when it is 112 outside is not a routine call. We prioritise homes with no cooling, and we say clearly when we can be there instead of leaving you guessing all afternoon.
  • Heating tooDesert nights get cold and furnaces sit unused for months. We do heater repair and furnace repair, including no-ignition problems, bad igniters, and blowers that hum without moving air. Same straight explanation, no upsell speech.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
