Duct Sealing

Duct sealing closes the leaks in your supply and return ducts so the cooled air you paid for reaches your rooms instead of the attic or crawlspace. We do this work for homeowners across Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. You likely need it if some rooms never cool, the system runs long into the evening, or the return grille pulls in dusty attic smell. Call us and we will inspect the duct runs, find the leaks, and tell you what sealing will and will not fix.

What duct sealing actually involves

We start at the air handler and work outward, checking plenum connections, boot seals at every register, and the joints in flex duct where the inner liner pulls away from the collar. Leaks get cleaned and sealed with mastic and mesh, or with a proper foil-backed tape rated for duct use, then insulation is pulled back over and secured. Cloth duct tape is not sealing material and we remove it when we find it. On rooftop package units we also seal the curb and the supply drop, since that connection takes the worst sun and movement.

What we check and what we install

Before sealing anything we measure. We check static pressure, feel airflow at each register, and look for the pattern that tells us whether the problem is leakage, a crushed run, or an undersized return. We inspect the boots where duct meets drywall, the takeoffs at the trunk, and any disconnected run that has fallen off its collar. Sealing usually pairs with re-insulating exposed duct in a hot attic, because sealed duct that sits bare in 150 degree air still loses capacity on the way to the room.

How we decide sealing is the right call

Sealing is the right call when the duct is structurally sound and losing air at joints. It is the wrong call when the flex is brittle, rodent chewed, or crushed flat behind an obstruction, and we will say so rather than sell you tape on failing duct. Rooms that stay hot because of duct sizing or a missing return will not improve from sealing alone, so we explain that up front. If the leaks are large and reachable, sealing is the cheapest real fix in the system and we start there.

Duct Sealing — quick answers

Will duct sealing help with dust in my house?

Often yes. Leaky returns pull attic and crawlspace air, along with the dust that lives there, straight into your air stream. Sealing the return side plus a clean filter usually makes a noticeable difference in IAQ.

Can duct sealing fix one room that never gets cold?

Sometimes. If that run has a disconnected boot or a split liner, sealing fixes it. If the run is undersized, crushed, or too long, sealing will not be enough and we will tell you what will.

How long does duct sealing take?

Most homes take part of a day, depending on attic access, how many runs there are, and the summer heat up there. Larger homes or full re-insulation of exposed duct can run longer.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and whether the outdoor unit is running. That tells us which parts and gauges to load on the truck before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow, refrigerant pressures, and the condenser coil. Desert dust plugs coils and dying capacitors are common. You get the finding in plain words before we touch a part.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and measure supply air temperature and amp draw so we know it is actually cooling or heating. We tell you what we saw and what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know rooftop unitsHalf the valley has a package unit on the roof, baking all summer. We are up there regularly, so we know how those cabinets fail, where the drain pans rust, and how heat and sun break down wiring and blower assemblies.
  • Dust is the local enemyFine desert dust mats onto condenser coils and chokes airflow, and the system runs hot until something gives up. We check the coil on every call and tell you honestly whether cleaning will fix your cooling problem.
  • July gets treated like JulyA dead condenser when it is 112 outside is not a routine call. We prioritise homes with no cooling, and we say clearly when we can be there instead of leaving you guessing all afternoon.
  • Heating tooDesert nights get cold and furnaces sit unused for months. We do heater repair and furnace repair, including no-ignition problems, bad igniters, and blowers that hum without moving air. Same straight explanation, no upsell speech.

  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
