The furnace installation symptoms we hear most
- The furnace lights, runs a minute, then shuts off again Flame sensor, limit switch or overheating from restricted airflow. On an older unit this often signals the heat exchanger.
- We keep paying for heating repair every single winter Cumulative wear across burners, ignitor, inducer and blower. Repair costs stacking up usually means replacement is the better spend.
- There is a crack or rust visible inside the furnace cabinet Possible heat exchanger failure and a combustion safety concern. This needs inspection before the unit runs again.
- Some rooms never get warm no matter what we set it to Undersized or poorly sized equipment, leaking ducts or a blower that cannot move air through the whole house.
- The unit is loud, rattling, and smells dusty every time it kicks on Aging blower assembly, loose sheet metal, or debris built up in the heat exchanger and burner compartment.

Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Check the thermostat: fresh batteries, set to Heat, and the target temperature a few degrees above the room reading.
- 2Look at the breaker panel for a tripped breaker feeding the furnace or air handler and reset it once.
- 3Change the air filter if it is grey or you cannot see light through it. A blocked filter makes a furnace overheat and shut down.
- 4Walk the house and confirm supply and return vents are open and not blocked by rugs or furniture.

How do we know whether to repair or replace the furnace?
We look at age, the cost of the repair against the value of the unit, and whether the heat exchanger is sound. If a fifteen year old furnace needs a major component and the exchanger is questionable, replacement is the honest answer.
Does a new furnace have to be the same size as the old one?
Not usually. Many older units were oversized. We measure the house and the ductwork, then match BTU output to the actual heating load so the furnace runs longer, quieter cycles instead of short blasts.
How long does furnace installation take?
Most straightforward gas furnace replacements finish in a day. Add time if the venting has to change, the gas line needs rework, a condensate drain is new, or the ductwork at the plenum needs rebuilding.
What is involved in a high-efficiency upgrade?
Condensing furnaces vent through PVC rather than the old metal flue and they produce condensate that needs a drain. We confirm both are workable before we quote, because that venting and drainage work is the real difference.
Can we replace the furnace and keep the existing AC?
Often yes, if the coil and blower are compatible and the AC has life left. We check that the new blower suits the cooling side, since a mismatch shows up as poor airflow the following summer.
What if we smell gas near the furnace?
Leave the building right away, take everyone with you, and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Do not flip switches or restart anything. Once the gas side is made safe, call us and we will inspect the furnace.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill out the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and whether the outdoor unit is running. That tells us which parts and gauges to load on the truck before we leave.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow, refrigerant pressures, and the condenser coil. Desert dust plugs coils and dying capacitors are common. You get the finding in plain words before we touch a part.
- Step 3
Repair and verify
We make the repair, then run the system and measure supply air temperature and amp draw so we know it is actually cooling or heating. We tell you what we saw and what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us
- We know rooftop unitsHalf the valley has a package unit on the roof, baking all summer. We are up there regularly, so we know how those cabinets fail, where the drain pans rust, and how heat and sun break down wiring and blower assemblies.
- Dust is the local enemyFine desert dust mats onto condenser coils and chokes airflow, and the system runs hot until something gives up. We check the coil on every call and tell you honestly whether cleaning will fix your cooling problem.
- July gets treated like JulyA dead condenser when it is 112 outside is not a routine call. We prioritise homes with no cooling, and we say clearly when we can be there instead of leaving you guessing all afternoon.
- Heating tooDesert nights get cold and furnaces sit unused for months. We do heater repair and furnace repair, including no-ignition problems, bad igniters, and blowers that hum without moving air. Same straight explanation, no upsell speech.

- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
