Top-rated independent heating and cooling across southern Nevada and the desert Southwest

Smart Thermostat Installation

We install smart thermostats on residential heating and cooling systems across Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah, including homes running rooftop package units. Homeowners usually call when the old thermostat is guessing on temperature, when a new control will not talk to the system, or when they want to change settings from a phone while the house sits empty in the heat. Call us with your system type and the thermostat you have in mind, and we will confirm what your wiring supports before we order anything.

What the job involves

We start at the wall and at the equipment, because a smart thermostat is only as good as the wiring behind it. Most models need a common wire for steady power, and plenty of older homes in the region never had one pulled. We check what conductors are available, run or adapt as needed, mount the new control level and away from supply air and sun, then configure it for your exact setup: single stage, two stage, heat pump, or a rooftop package unit.

What we check and install

Before the new control goes on the wall we verify the equipment it is being asked to run. That means checking the low voltage transformer, the control board, and staging, then testing cooling and heating calls one at a time so nothing is left guessing. We set the heat pump changeover correctly, program schedules with you rather than at you, and connect the thermostat to your home network. Then we watch a full cycle and confirm the temperature reading matches what the house feels like.

How we decide it is the right call

A smart thermostat is worth doing when the equipment underneath it is healthy. If your AC is short cycling or the airflow is poor, a new control will report the problem, not solve it, so we would rather fix that first. We also check compatibility honestly. Some older systems and some multi stage setups need a specific model or an adapter, and a few need nothing more than a straightforward programmable thermostat. We tell you which situation you are in before we start.

Smart Thermostat Installation — quick answers

Does my house need a C wire for a smart thermostat?

Most smart thermostats need constant power, which usually means a common wire. If yours is missing, we either pull a new conductor or fit an adapter at the equipment. We confirm this during the visit before installing anything.

Will a smart thermostat work with a rooftop package unit?

Usually yes, but the setup matters. Package units often involve heat pump changeover or multiple stages, and the thermostat has to be configured for that exact arrangement. We test each call after installation to confirm it is right.

Can you install a thermostat I already bought?

Yes. Bring us the model and we will check it against your system wiring and staging first. If it will not control your equipment properly, we will say so early rather than after it is on the wall.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and whether the outdoor unit is running. That tells us which parts and gauges to load on the truck before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow, refrigerant pressures, and the condenser coil. Desert dust plugs coils and dying capacitors are common. You get the finding in plain words before we touch a part.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and measure supply air temperature and amp draw so we know it is actually cooling or heating. We tell you what we saw and what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know rooftop unitsHalf the valley has a package unit on the roof, baking all summer. We are up there regularly, so we know how those cabinets fail, where the drain pans rust, and how heat and sun break down wiring and blower assemblies.
  • Dust is the local enemyFine desert dust mats onto condenser coils and chokes airflow, and the system runs hot until something gives up. We check the coil on every call and tell you honestly whether cleaning will fix your cooling problem.
  • July gets treated like JulyA dead condenser when it is 112 outside is not a routine call. We prioritise homes with no cooling, and we say clearly when we can be there instead of leaving you guessing all afternoon.
  • Heating tooDesert nights get cold and furnaces sit unused for months. We do heater repair and furnace repair, including no-ignition problems, bad igniters, and blowers that hum without moving air. Same straight explanation, no upsell speech.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
