Why is my heat pump blowing cool air in heating mode?
Most often the reversing valve has not shifted, the refrigerant charge is low, or the system is stuck in a defrost cycle. Each needs a technician with gauges. Set the thermostat to Heat and call us.
Is it normal for the outdoor unit to steam in winter?
Yes. That is the defrost cycle melting frost off the outdoor coil, and it can last several minutes. If it runs constantly or the coil stays iced over, the defrost control needs checking.
Should I switch to emergency heat until you arrive?
